01 — The connecting idea

Wellness is the thread running through my work.

My work can begin in different places. You may have an idea you want to develop, a wellness business you want to strengthen, a service or experience you want to rethink, or questions about your own wellbeing. Sometimes it starts with a problem. Sometimes it starts with an opportunity, an idea or simply wanting to understand something better.

Design

Methodology Development

Your knowledge can become more than something you instinctively know. Give your ideas, experience and ways of working the structure to become something distinctive, usable and testable.

Practise

Women's
Wellness

Sometimes the work is personal. I work intensively one-to-one with women through a depth-led approach, helping them understand their health and wellness in context, work through health challenges and make more informed decisions about what they need next.

02 — Lead capability

This is human-led and evidence-aware. It involves discovery, questioning, observation, contextual judgement, design, prototyping, testing and refinement.

Business Innovation &
Service Design

See what could be possible.

Shape what comes next.

Test it in the real world.

Your business doesn't have to be struggling for something to need to change.

You may be ready to develop a new service, strengthen an existing offer, bring an idea to life, rethink the customer experience or take an established wellness business in a new direction.

I work with wellness practitioners and businesses to turn those ambitions into something we can investigate, shape and test. We can look at the proposition, the service itself, the customer experience, how it works operationally and, where relevant, the physical environment in which the experience takes place.

Sometimes that means solving something that isn't working. Sometimes it means creating something that doesn't exist yet.

The starting point is what you're trying to make happen.

  2. 02UnderstandWhat is happening now, and what matters?
  3. 03DesignWhat could we create or change?
  4. 04TestWhat happens when the idea meets reality?
  5. 05DecideWhat does the evidence tell us to do next?

The work isn't a rigid five-step formula. An idea may send us back to discovery. Testing may reveal something we need to understand differently. A design may change as evidence develops. We move between the stages as the work requires.

03 — Methodology development

Your knowledge can become more than something you know.

It can become something you can articulate, structure, test and develop.

Years of practice can produce valuable ways of thinking and working that have never been formally captured. I work with knowledge, ideas and practice to shape structured methodologies and practical approaches that can be used, questioned and refined.

PCM™

Precision Context Model™

One example of what methodology development can become.

PCM™ grew from my own work with women and from questioning whether we understand enough of a woman’s wider context before deciding what support may be appropriate.

PCM™ is my woman-centred, context-led wellness methodology. It brings together the woman, biological and psychological expression, contextual influences and wellness domains to support a fuller, more individual understanding of what a woman may be experiencing.

It is pattern-aware, iterative and non-diagnostic. Understanding is allowed to develop rather than forcing the woman or her experience into a predetermined pathway.

04 — Women’s wellness practice

Practice keeps the thinking human.

Wellness is personal. Understanding what supports yours should be too.

I work closely with women one-to-one to understand their health and wellness in the context of their lives. Together, we make sense of what is happening, what may be influencing it, what matters now and what may support maintaining or improving their wellbeing.

My practice is deliberately small. I work with only two women at a time so the work can remain deep, focused and individual.

Working directly with women keeps everything else I do grounded. It informs how I think, how I develop methodology and how I design and innovate within wellness.

KIALA is a live business innovation and service-design project developing and testing a more flexible way for women to access complementary wellness care.

Being developed through customer research, service architecture, experience design, prototyping and operational testing, KIALA is also an example of how I bring Business Innovation & Service Design thinking into my own work.

Wellness Innovation Lab

What happens when we question how wellness business is done?

The Lab is where I investigate ideas, assumptions and possibilities within the business of wellness. It’s a working space for questioning what already exists, testing what could be different and following the evidence wherever it leads.

06 — Meet Alicia

Alicia A. Walters
“Wellness is the thread running through my work.”

I’m Alicia A. Walters. I practise, design and innovate in wellness.

Wellness has been the thread running through my professional life, but I’ve never been particularly interested in looking at it from only one direction.

I’m interested in the woman and her experience, but also in the practitioner, the service, the business and the systems around them. I want to understand how things work, why they work the way they do and what might be possible when we question, redesign or develop them differently.

That curiosity now shapes a practice that moves between Business Innovation & Service Design, Methodology Development and direct work with women. Different expressions of my work, connected by the same field and the same instinct: understand more deeply, then build something better.
